European Eagle Owl
This magnificent creature is part of the falconry display at the Shakespeare's Birthplace trust display in the grounds of Mary Arden's house at Wilmcote. Although many legends and myths surround the wonderfully wise looking birds the reality is unfortunately that the owl is only slightly less "intellectually challenged" than your average domestic chicken! All the same one would not wish to argue with those razor sharp claws and beak.

Lanner Falcon
This alert and intelligent looking bird is part of the falconry display at the Shakespeare's Birthplace trust display in the grounds of Mary Arden's house at Wilmcote. Nature seems to have incorporated the necessary yellow health and safety yellow hazard warnings around those lethal looking claws and beak!

The Mary Arden
Wilmcote is all about William Shakespeare and his mother Mary Arden who lived just down the road from here. History doesn't record whether she was a drinker or not, but one of the village pubs is named after her.
