Clifford Pound
Pounds or Pinfolds were enclosures used to hold cattle, sheep or other domestic animals that were straying or causing damage or held as security against a debt. The Pound Keeper or Pinder was appointed by the Manor Court, and could extract fines against the owners of the straying animals. This pound and the surrounding area were restored by the Clifford Pounders, a volunteer organisation, between 2001 and 2003, helped by grants from various organisations.
