The template
This probably-Georgian farmhouse in Bearley, Warwickshire, seems to have served as a template for a modern, executive-style housing development virtually next door, which has copied the look to give Instant Heritage appeal. But this is the original and best.

St. Mary The Virgin, Bearley
The church has been largely rebuilt in modern times, but the nave dates probably from the end of the 12th century and the chancel with its thinner walls may be of the 13th or 14th century. The church was remodelled in 1961-2 by the architect N. Hawkes, who restored the brownish-pink brick tower and timber belfry.
