Grassy track to the rear of Greville Road and Hill Street, east Warwick
Runs for about 130m at least as far as houses at the end of Hill Street. In view, Buddleia has burgeoned during the summer, but a richly coloured shrub rose is still in flower, 29 December.

Broken-down bus about to be recovered, Emscote Road, Portobello, Warwick
It was almost certainly an X17 service from Coventry, which is scheduled to run every 15 minutes during the day. There's a bus stop here. Half the X17s terminate either at Warwick or Jaguar Land Rover at Gaydon down the road; half continue to Stratford-upon-Avon via estates and villages, the former X18 service. Stagecoach have at times used double-deckers on this route since it was extended to Stratford. The recovery vehicle is from Fillongley, a village northwest of Coventry. The scene was chanced upon during the snowy spell in mid-December 2017.

Cast iron cover, Emscote Road, Portobello, east Warwick
This cover in the footway is perhaps for a connection to a phone box or into the sub-post office that is now a small convenience store. The letters P. O. / T. presumably stand for Post Office Telephones. Not sure how this cover was fixed or removed. The distinctive diamond shapes appear on many types of cast iron goods associated with former public utilities.

Closed shop, Warwick
Formerly a sub-postoffice, then a convenience store, it has finally closed. It enjoyed the advantage of facing a pelican crossing on Emscote Road, and retaining a postbox. A good post office counter service has for some time been available up Spinney Hill in the McColl convenience store, now a Morrisons Daily branch. There are full post offices in the town centres of Warwick and Leamington.

Convenience store, 180 Emscote Road, Warwick
No 180, right of centre, was once a sub-post office; the postbox remains. It looks as though the store has been extended into the ground floor of No 182, left of centre, leaving it as an upstairs flat reached by a repositioned front door. The store has remained open during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Lower west side of Hill Street, Emscote, Warwick
In the late 19th century it was a street of small terraced houses: Image On the corner is the Elephant and Castle pub, known as the Simple Simon for a while – there was a pie factory up the road then. The block of six flats first appears on an OS map of the period 1968-71; it may be part of the Herald's Court development, accessed from Humphris Street.
