Grand Union Canal from Charles Street Bridge (G.U. Bridge 48)
The towpath along the canal is in a good state of repair these days largely due to fibre optic telecommunications! British Waterways were part of a consortium which used the canal towpaths as rights of way to build their own trunk telecommunications network of fibre optic cables serving all the major towns and cities through which the waterways network passes. In order to make the towpaths suitable for this in many cases they had to be repaired, and hence today are kept in good condition as seen here. As a discreet reminder of this use there are almost anonymous grey containers, such as that seen on the right, which house the various fibre optic transmission and access equipment for operating the network.

Warwick houses [159]
Part of the housing development in the grounds of The Lawn Image A market town and county town of Warwickshire, Warwick lies on the River Avon, 11 miles (18 kilometres) south of Coventry. There is evidence of unbroken habitation from the 6th century AD with signs of Neolithic and Roman activity before that date. It was a Saxon burh in the 9th century and Warwick Castle was built during the Norman Conquest. Much of the town was destroyed in The Great Fire of Warwick in 1694. Warwick Racecourse is located just west of the town centre. The Grand Union Canal passes through the town and the restored Saltisford Canal Arm is close to the town centre.

Cedars and Giant Redwoods, Emscote Lawn
The lawn with its mature evergreen trees is strictly speaking a private open space for residents of the Regency-flavoured development in the grounds of Emscote Lawn preparatory school. The big Regency villa at its heart was converted to apartments after the private school moved to Henley-in-Arden. The view is to Campriano Drive, ahead and right, with Marne Close on the left.
