Church tower, Offchurch
The sundial is a notable feature on the tower of St Gregory's church. It was installed in 2006, replacing one painted on the stone dated 1795. An accompanying notice explains how to interpret the observation of the shadow which only shows the correct time twice in a year; at other times an adjustment is necessary either adding or subtracting minutes depending on the month. Of course, if the sun is not shining all that is academic. The church is thought to have been built on the site of the original Offa's church, although no trace of that remains. Legend has it that anybody throwing themselves off the top will be caught by King Offa, but it is probably best not to test it.
