I understand that this thriving site began as smallholdings for ex-servicemen, laid out in 1912 on private land. Some have been divided into allotments and some plotholders still keep livestock. Developers would like to build houses on it or around it. In the distance are the backs of properties in Fairhurst Drive

Looking towards its junction with Windermere Drive. In contrast to nearby Beverley Road, a long straight avenue, The Fairways takes several turns along its length. The name recalls a golf course that was in the area.
