Binswood Hall
Originally Leamington College, Leamington Spa's first school, designed in Tudor Gothic style by local architect Daniel Squirhill and opened in 1847. It closed in 1902 and in 1903 it was purchased by a French religious order as a convent, before the order had to withdraw following the outset of the First World War. From 1917 to 1919 it was taken over by Dover College who had evacuated their home due to its vulnerability to bombardment. It was then purchased by Warwickshire County Council to serve as a boys' grammar school, again named Leamignton College, before the abolition of grammar schools in 1979 led to its becoming a sixth form college, named Binswood Hall, a role it served until 2009. It has now been restored and converted into a complex of retirement homes, which opened in 2014.
Grade II* listed - see www.historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1381190.

Binswood Hall
The following is from the Leamington Spa Courier :-
"Built in 1847, the Grade II Victorian Gothic Binswood Hall was inspired by Hampton Court Palace, with pattern brickwork, Bath and Caen stone dressings and projecting octagonal turrets. For much of its history it was a beacon of education in the local area, home to Leamington College for Boys
After closing several years ago and falling in to disrepair, it has now been sympathetically restored by Audley Retirement Villages, bringing independent and luxury living to over 55s in the region."
A former pupil at the school was Frank Whittle, who went on to invent the jet engine.
Part of the redevelopment here includes Whittles Restaurant in his honour.
