Lansdowne Crescent
Lansdowne seems to be a generic name for nice crescents. There are Lansdown(e) Crescents all over the place, Bath, Notting Hill, Edinburgh, Glasgow, to name but a few. Plus the Brits took the name with them on their travels. There are Lansdownes in Australia, India, NZ, USA, Canada, S. Africa etc. Where did the name originate? The Crescent here was the work of architect William Thomas, and according to this page about him http://www.leamingtonhistory.co.uk/william-thomas-in-leamington/ it took about 30 years of intermittent construction before it was finished.
