Development of the Avenue Station site off Station Approach, Leamington
Most recently the site was a low-cost, long-stay car park, handy for the station. The private road was much used by Stagecoach buses going in and out of the depot Image A sign nearby lists the stakeholders: Waterloo Housing Group / A development of 212 new homes; a mixture of rent, shared ownership and outright sale; Phase 1 completions summer 2018 / in partnership with Warwick District Council / with funding from the Department for Communities and Local Government; Homes & Communities Agency / A.C.Lloyd, building contractor. Flats in De Normanville Avenue seen from Leamington Spa station car park
Framed by Buddleia, the residential development on the north side of the station has changed the character of the area after decades of temporary and other uses on former railway land.

East on Station Approach and the parallel private road, Royal Leamington Spa
The road on the right was the unnamed road that served the L&NWR (later LMS) Avenue Station, a private road at the time of the photograph. Station Approach, left, a public road, first appears on an OS map of 1966-70, by which time the railway station was disused. A bus station is shown along here; previously there were allotments between the low wall, centre, and the rear boundaries of Avenue Road properties, left. The former railway land, right, was for a long time home to a car dealership. The cleared site is now a long stay car park, convenient for the existing (former GWR) station. At the time of the photo, development proposals had failed to satisfy the planning committee of Warwick District Council. Corrected and updated July 2016: redevelopment now appears to be on the cards.

Site of Leamington Spa Avenue Station
The site of the former LNWR station, on the line from Coventry to Rugby via Kenilworth. Passenger services ceased in 1964 and the station was demolished and a car dealership subsequently built on the land. This too has now closed and the usual disputes have arisen about the redevelopment of the site.

Site of Bus Station
For many years this was the site in Station Approach, adjacent to what was Leamington Spa Avenue Station was Leamington Spa's bus station. Although it ceased to be used as such over 20 years ago the tarmac on the footpath still shows signs of where the bus shelters sat. The building on the right is still unmistakably the bus operators' offices and waiting room and the prefab building on the left still operates as a cafe.
