Main Street, Nailstone
The Bull Inn and All Saints Church
Nailstone is an old colliery village, now a quiet backwater. Unfortunately the County Council want to use the old colliery site for land fill and waste incineration. The church was closed as unsafe when this photograph was taken. It was undergoing major repair works.

Old school building
Now a private house, but this was once a Public Elementary School (or National School). The square plaque in the left gable end reads "National School 1828" and the one in the right gable end reads "Infant School 1838". The building was funded by Earl Howe, lord of the manor of Nailstone.
