Row of houses with 'diaper' brickwork, King Street, Bedworth
Row of four 19th century houses with distinctive 'diaper' or patterned brickwork, which was once very popular in Bedworth, according to the Bedworth Society. https://www.bedworth-society.co.uk/town-guide. Facades of chequerboard brickwork are common in this part of the Midlands, but these are unusual in being executed in Staffordshire blue bricks - the damp- and crush-resistant bricks used for engineering works such as railways - contrasted with reddish-yellow ones. The chimneys are built with blue bricks, but the backs of the houses use standard red brick.
