Bedworth, 'the town that never forgets'
Junction of Rye Piece Ringway (left) and Coventry Road (right), showing the entrance to the Miners' Welfare Park with new war memorial inscription and gates installed in 2018. Bedworth claims to be the only town in Britain to have observed two minutes silence on the eleventh hour on the eleventh day on the eleventh month every year since 1923. The upstairs window of the wool shop to the right bears the words 'Top o'the Trams', the local name of this corner, which was the terminus of the tram route from Coventry. I remember this shop being a craft shop in the late 1970s. The wool shop appears now to have closed, a victim of the pandemic downturn perhaps. https://www.bedworth-society.co.uk/bedworth-town-trail https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/local-news/bedworths-stunning-armistice-legacy-unveiled-15049544
