Coventry Canal approaching bridge 19B
Three narrowboats can be seen here in the suburbs of Nuneaton. The closest one is flying the flag of the Black Country for some reason. The houses are on George Eliot Street (named after the Victorian novelist, real name Mary Ann Evans who was born in the town). Beyond that is bridge 19B which carries the Coventry - Nuneaton railway.

Coventry Canal: Bridge Number 19B: Chilvers Coton Railway Bridge
The London & North Western Railway built their Coventry & Nuneaton Branch Line across the canal here, opening it in 1850. The line was closed to passenger traffic in 1965, but was reopened in 1987. The former Chilvers Coton station was just to the left of the bridge.
The passer-by on the towpath is helping the man on the mobility scooter to thread his fishing line - a nice helpful gesture.

Bridge 19B, Coventry Canal
Despite its apparently dilapidated condition bridge 19B carries the Coventry - Nuneaton railway. Letter suffixes to canal bridge numbers indicate that the bridge was built at some point after the canal was completed, so railway bridges usually have them. The modern bridge further along, that carries the A444, is numbered 19A; as the numbers increase from the south these two seem to be out of sequence.
