The Sliding House, Cliftonville
Situated in Godwin Road, this is the creation of artist Alex Chinneck. It was a 19th century house compulsorily purchased by Thanet District Council after being empty for ll years. The art work will exist for a year before being pulled down.

Margate sliding house
'From the knees of my nose to the belly of my toes'
A temporary art instalment created by Alex Chinneck at 1 Godwin Road at a cost of £100,000. The Thanet District Council owned building has been re-fronted with a new fascia giving the impression the front facade has slid down into the garden, leaving the top floor room exposed. The house was empty for 11 years before the council compulsory purchased it.
The project was finished in October to stay for one year.

Sweyn Road
Taken from the corner of Albion Road, looking across the road to numbers 40-46, one of which appears to be having a new roof, as indicated by the scaffolding that was erected above it. However, closer inspection revealed that these numbers appeared to be derelict.

Planning permission has been granted by Thanet District Council under application number F/TH/15/0207 for a “change of use and conversion to 2 four bed dwellings, 2 two bed flats and 2 two bed maisonettes, erection of 2 single storey rear extensions, and alterations to front elevation, following demolition of single storey front and rear extensions and second floor extension to rear”.
