Named Ingoldsby House to commemorate the author, the Reverend Richard Barham who was a onetime resident. He was most famous for writing "The Ingoldsby Legends" in 1837. He also wrote "Misadventures at Margate", a social history of the town including the former Cobb's Brewery and the Margate landladies.
