Old rare lamp post on Shakespeare Road, Birchington
This lamp post is a loner on Shakespeare Road. It is an old GEC (General Electrics Company, a branch of American electronics conglomerate GE) lantern, but I can't remember the product code, and is mounted upon a Stanton and Staveley concrete column. It is also fitted with an anti-glare shield to prevent the light from spilling into the window below. View taken looking west along Shakespeare Road near Birchington railway station.

This traffic island is located at the junction of Grenham Road, Beach Avenue and Rossetti Road (named after the eponymous Dante Gabriel Rossetti, who is buried in the grounds of All Saints Church on Canterbury Road). This view was taken from the latter road looking towards Beach Avenue.

Street light not lighting a street
A rather daftly placed streetlight here - it isn't lighting a street at all! Instead, each and every night it just simply lights grass! However, I do get the impression that there was a road here once and it has recently been overgrown and made into a driveway, and thus the streetlight probably dates before this happened and hasn't been removed by the council yet. The buildings over the fence on the left are part of the Birchington Bowling Club.

John Chawner Antique Clock Specialist
This exquisite antiques shop, dating from 1891, is located a little east of Birchington station, adjacent to the footbridge over the railway just beyond it. As you can see, it is rather overgrown with ivy, but apart from that it seems quite well maintained. The shop is filled with antiques of all kinds - clocks, rocking horses (one of which you can just see in the photo) and models of ships, trains, etc. The view is looking north, with the railway in a cutting behind the shop.
