Seafront at Herne Bay
Apart from one ugly block near the old pier head, Herne Bay has an attractive seafront, which is largely to scale. This view is taken from half way along Neptune's Arm and looks across the harbour which has been created towards the 1830s clock tower.

Restoration of Herne Bay clock tower, Central Parade
Herne Bay clock tower was built in 1837 and was the first purpose-built clock tower of its type in the world http://www.clocktowerfriends.org/pages/about-us/ There was a board, at the base of the tower, giving the information that, following a successful bid for Heritage Lottery funding by Canterbury City Council, it was hoped that the restoration’s completion would be by October 2014.
