The Church of Saint Alphege at Seasalter
The present 'old church' dates to the 12th Century, and consists of the ancient chapel and sanctuary, the rest having been demolished in the 19th Century. A new church bearing the same name, was constructed in 1844, and stands in Whitstable High Street. This church does, however, remain in use.

St Alphege Church, Seasalter
Off Church Lane, a church on this site was first built in the late 12th century. By the 1840s, the church was in a poor condition and a new St. Alphege's church was built in Whitstable. The nave of the Medieval church was pulled down and the chancel made into a burial chapel. The new building was consecrated in 1845. St Alphege, the Saxon archbishop, is especially associated with Kent. He was murdered by Danes at Greenwich and brought to Canterbury Cathedral in 1023.
