Footbridge over the Railway
This bridge links Alexandra Road, with the Saxon Shore Way (long distance path) heading to the coast and promenade near Whitstable. The railway heads right to Whitstable and Herne Bay, from Faversham.

The railway towards Whitstable
The section of the East Kent Railway between Chatham and Faversham opened on 25th January 1858. The continuation between Faversham and Whitstable was opened by the Margate Railway on 1st August 1860, and was extended to Herne Bay on 13th July 1861. The London Chatham & Dover Railway reached Margate from Herne Bay in 1863. The section here opened in 1860. Whitstable is the next station in this direction.

Footbridge over the railway at Whitstable
The section of the East Kent Railway between Chatham and Faversham opened on 25th January 1858.
