Thanet Way footbridge
When the A2990 Thanet Way was built, it clearly separated Chestfield and South Street from the main area of Whitstable, and this footbridge has been built to provide safe pedestrian & cycle access into the town.

The railway line at Whitstable
The line between Faversham and Whitstable was opened by the Margate Railway on 1st August 1860, and was extended to Herne Bay on 13th July 1861. This view is from the bridge on Ham Shades Lane. The next station in this direction is Chestfield and Swalecliffe.
