Looking over Whitstable
From the A2990, Old Thanet Way the ground falls away steeply and about half this field is out of sight over the brow. The housing is in St Luke's Close.

Golden Hill meets the Thanet Way near Whitstable
The Thanet Way (A2990) has been superseded for through traffic by the A299. Most of the modern route was constructed in the early 1930s as an unemployment relief project. Prior to this, all traffic from the west to the Isle of Thanet had to go via Canterbury.
The A299 was upgraded between 1989 and 1997 to dual carriageway for almost its entire length. Whitstable and Herne Bay were by-passed, with the old road seen here becoming the A2990.
