Connaught Road Pumping station, Dover
These buildings housed two triple expansion steam pumping engines. The bit on the left in shade still houses a somewhat rusty example commissioned in 1939. The right hand tall building housed an engine commissioned in 1954, making it the last steam pumping engine commissioned in England (unless you know different). This engine is now at the Forncett Industrial Steam Museum in Norfolk. Photograph taken on the occasion of a visit by ISSES - the International Stationary Steam Engine Society.

Entrance to Connaught Park Dover
The park is the first established in Dover, dating back to Victorian times. Set on the hillside below Dover Castle it provides facilities for both recreational and sporting activities. The open grass slopes provide a pleasant environment for a stroll offering excellent views across the town. The lower part of the park is set out in a more traditional style with an ornamental lake and lawns leading to an aviary. Within the park there are three grass tennis courts and two hard tennis courts.
