Planning permission has been granted by Dover District Council under application number DOV/20/01117 for the “erection of a detached dwelling, vehicular access and associated parking”.

Warning sign
Seen at the start of the track up. Unfortunately I entered the field by a stile further along which had no warning. The footpath was not marked well and I now know I left it at the top of the hill! Fortunately I did not come across any ammunition.

Canterbury Road, Lydden
Buses to Dover leave from the stop down the road on the left. But there's time for a pint at the Lydden Bell before the next departure.

The Hope Inn, Canterbury Road, Lydden
As seen from the junction with Warren Lane. The building has a "for sale" board just above the inn sign. The sale is being managed by Christie and Co with an asking price of £195,000. It is a freehold property.

The Hope Inn, Lydden
The last time I photographed this building it was up for sale Image Now there is a 'to let' sign on the left hand side and a 'sold' sign on the right. Planning permission has been granted by Dover District Council under application number DOV/13/00604 for a “Section 73 application to vary condition 2 of planning permission DOV/10/00488 (erection of 4 dwellings and construction of vehicular access together with car parking for the public house) to change plots 1 & 2 from a semi-detached pair into two detached dwellings”.

Scaffolding on the former Hope Inn
No further work on the building seemed to have taken place since Image, which shows the side hidden in this view. The cones and barrows at the entrance to Warren Lane were used by workmen, employed by Kent County Council (whose vehicle in parked outside the pub), when the lane had been closed for repair to its surface. The men began to remove them soon after I had taken my photo.
