Art deco - but hardly practical in the face of a stiff north-easterly

Fair Haven, number 137 beach Street, was built in the 18th century. Constructed of painted brick under a tile roof. Number 143 Beach Street was built in the early or mid 19th century. Constructed of brick, stuccoed to Beach Street and pebbledashed to Farrier Street, all under a slate mansard roof. This was Image in November 2018. Beyond The Three Compasses is Bruce House, where. under the scaffolding a blue plaque to Sir Ernest Bruce Charles CBE, has been installed. He was born in 1871, died in 1950 and was a local benefactor, philanthropist and judge. He lived at Bruce House from 1932 until 1950.
