The Rope Walk follows the old town defences of Sandwich, first built in 1384. The Rope Walk is so named as this is where rope makers used to lay out their ropes on this long straight stretch.

Footpath junction on Rope Walk
This path leads on a former section of Sandwich City Wall leading between Moat Sole and New Street. On the right, beyond the trees is a moat used by anglers. A path also leads left towards Cattle Market beside a supermarket. The path is also used by the Saxon Shore Way and Stour Valley Walks (long distance paths).
