Computers 4 Africa, 1-12, Burgate
In January 2011 Computers 4 Africa started merging with Digital Pipeline. The organisation recognized a joint purpose and pooled resources and efforts to bridge the digital divide internationally. The restructured and enlarged organisation was to be known as Digital Pipeline and to retain Computers 4 Africa as a working name for working in Africa.
Its mission was to lift Africa out of the poverty trap by equipping the next generation with the technology and support to work in a global environment. This was the 21st- version of “…teach a man to fish…”. It is done by supplying the best quality and value computers in the countries in which they operate.
At the central processing unit in Kent, working redundant computers are received through collections and local donations from around the UK.
The aim is to make modern IT available to those who do not have easy access to technology, greatly enhancing their ability to learn, work and progress

Burgate is a narrow cobbled shopping street in the centre of Canterbury that leads from Sun Street at Christchurch gate, east to Lower Bridge Street, part of the inner ring road round the centre of the city.
