RAF Manston - 1953
A group of National Service RAF firemen stand in front of their engine. My father, pictured third from the left has a rather large mop of hair. He told me that after initial training, officers were not too interested in hair length as long as you did your job.

Catering van, RAF Manston 1953
The van seems to be a Commer from 1952 and could well have been fitted locally. The two men are United States airmen as Manston was a joint RAF/USAF base in the early fifties. Indeed, the aircraft in the background appear to be B-47 Stratojets. UKES seems to stand for 'United Kingdom Exchange Service' which was involved in postage and catering for the forces.
