Minster Abbey, Church Road, Minster
The abbey was founded in the 7th century. The section ahead is the oldest, Saxon part of the building with the ruins of the tower at the end. The large windows are later additions, the small slit windows are the original. To the right the building is of Norman origin. The abbey has been a private residence, and was re-founded in 1937, dedicated to St. Mildred. It was used by the RAF during the second World War when the nuns left to spend that period in Bavaria.
