The Italianate Glasshouse
The Italianate Glasshouse was erected in the grounds of East Cliff Lodge, Sir Moses Montefiore's 22-acre estate in 1832. The financier and former Sheriff of London bought the structure from Bretton Hall in Yorkshire after seeing it in an auction catalogue. The grounds of the house, now known as King George VI Memorial Park, were eventually taken over by Ramsgate Borough Council and the house was demolished in 1953. Today, the glasshouse is a cafe.

A Roadside Waterfall in Ramsgate
I am unsure of the exact location of this roadside waterfall - I am assuming its specified location by the shape of the road! The road curves and inclines upward from the marina, before curving back on itself and descending down to hotels on the seafront on the other side. The waterfall is made of sandstone, and despite the water being rather murky and teeming with scum, is quite attractive. View taken looking strictly north at the centre-left of the square.

Italianate greenhouse, King George VI Memorial Park
The greenhouse was built in 1832 against the stable block of what was once East Cliffe Lodge, home of Jewish philanthropist Sir Moses Montefiore (1784 - 1885). The mansion was demolished in 1954. The greenhouse suffers at the hands of vandals throwing stones but it has been recently restored to its former glory, complete with fish scale panes of glass. It houses, amongst other plants, huge agaves and a grape vine.

These ornate Grade II Listed buildings at the end of Montefiore Avenue, are the only remaining building left of East Cliff Lodge. Even the wall is Grade II Listed. To the right of the Gate House (on the right) is a gate leading into King George IV Memorial Park.
