Close-up of St. Peter's Village Sign
As seen in Image The sign shows an image of St.Peter's. The village came into existence as a pagan Jutish settlement, and was well established by the 7th Century AD. From these beginnings the present Town of Broadstairs and St.Peter's has evolved. On the post is a small metal plaque which reads 'This plaque was unveiled on the 8th February 1996, by; Councillor Mrs Davis, Chairman of Thanet District Council and in memory of Councillor Mrs Hillyard, Mayor of Broadstairs and St.Peter's. It commemorates the renovation of the village sign and the placing of a time capsule. Contributions to the capsule were received from local parishioners and school children, for the benefit of future generations.' Below this is another plaque. See Image
