Tower of former Netherne Hospital, seen from across the valley
Seen from Chipstead church, west of the valley. Modern housing has been built on the site of the former Netherne mental hospital, but a few of the original structures have been preserved: the tower is the most conspicuous, visible from several miles away.

Netherne-on-the-Hill: Re-used building
This was previously the reception block of the Lunatic Asylum, which was refurbished and re-used as part of the new Netherne Village. The clock was (rarely for a public clock these days) actually showing the right time. Whether the mechanism of this clock is the original is not known to me.
