Former watermill
The weather-boarded Townsford Mill building originally dates from 1740. In 1826 Courtaulds began silk weaving here. Now it is an antiques centre and restaurant.

Courtauld Mill, Halstead
This is a picture of the Courtauld Silk Mill in Halsted Essex, it was opened in 1809. Even when this picture was taken the water mill was a historical curiosity today it is an antiques centre. In 1975 when the picture was taken there was still a working mill in the vicinity.

Buildings by the River Colne
Looking across the river in Hadleigh. The old white weather-boarded mill on the right is now an antiques centre. The small buildings in the centre are now the Blacksmiths Tea Rooms.
