Wivenhoe Quay

The Folly, Wivenhoe
This attractive row of houses faces the River Colne. The nearest cottage was a bakery at one time with a shop front. Two of the houses are displaying posters in support of the Labour party prior to local government elections.

Wivenhoe: The Quay
Many years ago there used to be a ferry to the other side, but now (unless you have your own boat or can make a private arrangement) it's a very long detour by road.

Black Buoy Hill, Wivenhoe
Black Buoy Hill is one of the old narrow streets behind The Quay. On the right is The Black Buoy pub which was saved from closure by community action and is now hopefully thriving as a great village pub with excellent food too.
