1 - 7 (odds) High Street, Kelvedon
Although appearing as one block now, 7 at the far end is grade II listed, and 1 - 5 grade I listed. 1 - 5 started out in the 16th century as the provincial mansion of the Abbot of Westminster. It became a large inn, along with number 7, for most of the 17th and 18th centuries, first the White Lion then the Red Lion (why change?), and then was converted into four houses, its present state.
