302 207 east of Colchester, 1988
Restored to green livery by Ilford depot, the unit was on special bank holiday duties. Unit 306 017 was also doing likewise over the weekend.

The green train is unit 302 207 running a special bank holiday service. This unit was restored to a green livery at Ilford depot. Parked in a siding beyond is a class 309 unit in Network Southeast livery.

Electric trains, Colchester, 1988
On this Mayday weekend certain "heritage" trains were running on the Great Eastern line. At the country end of Colchester station, class 302 (formerly AM2) unit 207 in original green livery attracts the attention of enthusiasts on the platform. Of equal interest, at this remove in time, is the train behind them composed of class 309 (formerly AM9) Clacton express stock. One unit is in Network Southeast livery, and one in the short-lived and rather attractive "Jaffa Cake" livery. The viewpoint was a bank of waste ground, now developed into a superstore.
