The Hole in the Wall
The pub is so-called because it stands beside the remains of the Balkerne Gate in the Roman city wall. The parts of the wall and the gate can be seen, as can "Jumbo" the water tower. We are looking across the pedestrian bridge over Balkerne Hill.
