St. Botolph's Priory was a medieval Augustinian religious house in Colchester, Essex, which had the distinction of being the first and leading Augustinian convent in England until its dissolution in 1536. St Botolphs Priory Colchester
The priory of St Julian and St Botolph at Colchester was founded in 1103 and was the first Augustinian monastery in England. The surviving walls date from the middle of the 12th century. Although the priory was closed in 1536 the church remained in use until the English Civil War of the 1640s.
