Little Holland Hall
This view is of the back of Little Holland Hall, which probably dates back to the early 18th century. It now forms part of a nursing home that was opened in 1989. Up until 1920, Holland-on-Sea was known as Little Holland.

Holland-on-Sea: Little Holland Hall
Little Holland Hall is a Grade II Listed Building and the Historic England website describes it thus:- "C16 or earlier origin. Originally timber framed, now C18 and C19 red brick faced. Red plain tiled roofs. 4 large red brick chimney stacks visible. Hipped roof to west present main face. Rear wings, that to south with hip to west and 2 gabled dormers to east. 2 storey present main range. Central band follows through returns. 6 window range of small paned vertically sliding sashes with gauged brick arches. Left C20 panelled door with top light. Right 6 panelled door, plain pilasters, frieze and flat canopy. Semi-circular fanlight with glazing bars." The Hall is now surrounded by a complex of independently assisted care homes.

Despite looking through his "Observer's Book of Trees" the photographer is none the wiser as to the identity of the species of this coniferous tree. Whatever it is just to the west of the Frinton Road and Kings Parade roundabout.
