Victorian terrace in Roman Road
Convenient for the town centre yet tucked away, this street comprises mostly terraced and semi-detached houses from the Victorian era. The pale green house was once a pub - The Roman Urn!

Night-time snow scene in Roman Road (2)
Contrast Image - a similar angle but up one level and by day - also not so cold! Note (centre) the drain cover, which has melted off the snow over it: someone's been having a hot bath, maybe. The view is downhill, northwards.

Hoverflies feasting on fennel
For a certain space of the day, these fennel flowers were teeming with busy hover flies - two varieties visible here. Although they resemble wasps - for their own protection - once you know they are harmless they appear safely fascinating. For close-ups, see Image and Image

Hoverfly cousins
