Post Mill, Duck End, Finchingfield
Reputedly the smallest remaining post mill in Essex this Grade II Listed windmill probably built in the 1750s was brought from elsewhere and erected on a high mill mound before 1840 as this is when the roundhouse was added. The mill contains many carved dates the oldest being 1753. The mill last worked around 1890 and stood derelict for a while before being renovated by the Parish. Essex County Council carried out further renovation in 1958 and late 1984. A cast iron windshaft from Gainsford End Mill was installed in the early renovations but subsequently reverted to a wooden one in the 1980s renovation.
