Felsted School and the Grignon Hall
Independent public school located in extensive grounds in the village of Felsted. These are the original buildings of the present school, which include the houses of Windsors and Montgomerys. Grade II Listed Building, dating back to the late 1860's and designed by Frederic Chancellor. The campus has since expanded over many years to incorporate many vocational, educational and sporting facilities. The school was, however, founded in 1564 by a shady character called Richard Lord Riche - Lord Chancellor in Edward VI's reign and much involved in the dissolution of monasteries under the previous monarch, Henry VIII. Many well known pupils have passed through its corridors including the sons of Oliver Cromwell. For most of its history it was a boys only school, but has relatively recently become co-educational
