Leez Priory, near Little Leighs, Essex
This brick built mansion stands on the site of an Augustinian Priory. Parts of the original priory remain, which includes the great gatehouse. This building is now used for weddings. This view shows the outer gatehouse.

Interior of barn at Leez Priory Farm
The intermediate floor and dividing walls have been removed giving an excellent view of the queen-post roof. The change in texture of the walls shows where the floor was and the slots in the horizontal joists are evidence for partition walls. This building is now a restaurant for those attending weddings at Image

Leez Priory
This was the site of an Augustinian Priory built in the 13th Century and dissolved during the Reformation in 1536. It was granted to Lord Rich who built a house on the site (much changed since then). He was given the task of keeping Princess Elizabeth prisoner here during the reign of her half-sister Mary.
