The Street, Pleshey (1)
The Essex Way long distance footpath adopts the main street through Pleshey, a rather attractive village of the chocolate box variety.
The whole village is enclosed by an ancient earthwork fanning out from a prominent motte and bailey located on the south side, which once supported an important castle in medieval times.

A corner near Pleshey
Twenty years ago the photographer ran round this corner (on the road) every week from and to the "Leather Bottle", Pleshey. Since those times the signing of public footpaths in this area has much improved, both cosmetically and practically.
