Highly informative signpost, Matching Green
Somewhat out of vertical under the weight of no less than thirteen routes to twelve destinations, given to the nearest 1/4 mile. The locally more important places are shown larger, so London at 26-1/4 miles takes a minor place to Hatfield Heath, White Roding, Epping and Fyfield. Two alternative routes are given to Moreton.

Direction Sign ? Signpost in Matching Green
Located in Matching Green on a grass triangle in the centre of a T junction on the southwest side of the green in Matching parish. 3 arms and cone finial. The two upper lines of the lettering on each of the 10½ inch arms are the 'standard' 2½ inch size. Note though the slightly thicker stroke of the letters for LONDON. It’s unusual to have London on such a rural post anyway! Larger lettering on the lowest lines is not uncommon but a bit over the top here. HATFIELD HEATH and WHITE RODING are in the compressed version of the standard font. Final point of interest is that no fewer than ten of the thirteen destinations have fractions of a mile.
