'King's Head' inn, North Weald Bassett, Essex
This is one of the few remaining old buildings in North Weald Bassett and probably dates back to the 15th century. Many buildings were destroyed here during World War II.

Houses across a field of thistles, North Weald Bassett
This was an attempt to replicate an old view by John Piper in the Tate Archive. See http://www.tate.org.uk/art/archive/tga-8728-1-12-91/piper-photograph-of-a-countryside-landscape-with-houses-possibly-in-essex The visible houses are mainly on Harrison Drive. Needless to say, the radio station is now demolished. The missing large tree looks like it was an Elm.

North Weald Bassett: The Kings Head
This timber-framed pub was formerly a hall house dating from the 15th century and much altered in the 17th century. Further major changes were made in 1927. It is now a Grade II Listed Building. This was an unintentional near repeat of a Francis Frith image of 1960 http://www.francisfrith.com/north-weald/photos/the-kings-head-inn-c1960_n68024/
