Epping Ongar Railway 1940s Weekend
"There's a bomb, don't panic!"
No panic, as the guards had disappeared. Most visitors were drawn to the display of period weapons.

Epping Ongar Railway 1940s Weekend
Weapons display at North Weald station. The Sten gun, whilst not exactly elegant, was a functional machine gun produced from 1941 onwards.

Routemaster at North Weald station
This is at North Weald station which is now on the Epping to Ongar Heritage Railway. North Weald is now the central base for the Epping Ongar Railway's motive power fleet.
This was the London Transport Weekend which celebrated the Epping Ongar Railway's links with London Transport. Heritage buses were running a service between Epping Underground station and North Weald station. This one is a lengthened Routemaster RML which came later than the RMs and could seat eight more passengers. The NF code shows that it is based at Northfleet Garage in North Kent.

North Weald Bassett: B181 High Road with AEC Routemaster
The AEC Routemaster is ALD 966B, a preserved 1964 version running on a "339" service, but effectively on the shuttle between Epping and North Weald railway stations during the Epping Ongar Railway's 150th Anniversary weekend event.
The B181 was once the A122 between Epping and Chipping Ongar.

The nearer bus is an RF which was the standard single-decker in the London Transport fleet in the 1950s and 1960s. The further bus is a lengthened Routemaster RML which came later than the RMs and could seat eight more passengers. The NF code shows that it is based at Northfleet Garage in North Kent.
