Church of St Leonard, Southminster
Grade II* listed The church consists of nave, chancel, south chapel, north transept, western tower and north porch with parvise. Nave & Tower were originally 12th C. but raised in 16th C. There are 8 bells. There is a Norman south door from 1150 with a scratch dial. Inside there are 15th C. Poppy head pew ends, and an organ by Norman & Beard. The church was enlarged in 1819 by Rev. Alexander Scott, chaplain on HMS Victory. The church also contains various relics belonging to Admiral Nelson.
