Row of stone cottages in Ffynnongroyw
This is the start of a linear mining village that was either side of what was the main Coastal road. It is now by-passed and the Wales Coast Path follows this road as access to the "coast" is impossible at this point.

Choice of routes
The Wales Coastal Path cannot stay on the coast as the railway, and further east, Mostyn Docks, are both secure sites. The direct route is along the A548 but an alternative is offered to avoid this, and the sign reflects the choice. http://www.ccgc.gov.uk/enjoying-the-country/wales-coast-path.aspx?lang=cy-gb
