Approaching Buckley on the Padeswood Road
Buckley (Bwcle in Welsh) was well-known for its brickworks and many buildings in Liverpool have been made from Buckley bricks. The first brickworks were started here in the mid 17th Century, and there were 14 factories by 1815.

The Old Bridge Inn
Opposite the entrance to the Old Padeswood Golf Club the Bridge Inn stands derelict. The railway bridge, after which it is named, is just out of sight on the right - see Image

Padeswood Railway Bridge
Looking east from Padeswood railway bridge towards the ever present cement works chimney. The railway was dismantled a long time ago, and the trees show how the line has been taken over by private gardens.

The old railway bridge at Padeswood still serves to carry the minor road, although there is no longer a railway below. The raised section of the parapet, on the right, holds the broken remains of a Victorian postbox - see Image

Padeswood Railway Bridge
Looking south over Padeswood railway bridge, which no longer has a railway below. On the right hand corner of the bridge parapet is the modern postbox, which is the replacement for the broken Victorian one at the other end of the bridge - see Image On the right hand side is the entrance to the Old Padeswood Golf Club.
